THE NEWBORN EXPERIENCE
Firstly, I would like to thank you for booking your newborn session with me. I cannot wait to meet you and create precious memories for years to come.
Please do take the time to read my newborn welcome pack as I have spent many years collecting information to make your photoshoots run as smoothly as possible.
Newborn sessions are a lovely way to capture those first few weeks of your little one’s life as naturally as possible. Our own lives are so fast-paced that we forget to capture what is important. So instead of the false posed studio look, I like you to feel at home and just enjoy each other’s company, laugh & play whilst I snap away!
Before you book
- Before you book, we will discuss which session you are interested in and any questions you may have.
- Newborn shoots typically happen under two weeks old. This is to capture them all sleepy and squishy. But this doesn’t mean you can’t do it after this time frame.
- I require a £50 non-refundable deposit for every session, which will be deducted from your final balance. This secures your date in my diary.
- I will send out my terms and conditions for you to fill out before your photoshoot, along with a short questionnaire. This will be sent over once little one arrives.
- Your final balance must be paid on or before your photoshoot via bank transfer or cash.
- Newborn shoots include parents and siblings, but please let me know beforehand who will be in the photos.
- Well-behaved pets are welcome.
How to prepare for my photoshoot?
This could be your very first time out with your new baby so I understand this could feel a little daunting. Make yourself a little list of anything you
might need, nappies, milk, muslins, wipes etc. Some of this may sound obvious, or you may have done this all before. But here are a few tips.
- If little one is able, give them a nice cosy bath in the morning to relax them.
- Try not to cover them in too many oils/moisturisers, the camera will really pick up on this and can make them look super shiny.
- Leave yourself plenty of time to park and head over to the studio so you don’t feel stressed.
- Dress baby in something easy to remove not to disturb baby too much when changing clothes at the studio. If you have a plain white baby grow, this could work for the first few shots. I would also recommend only one layer of clothing when you arrive, just so we don’t disturb them.
- A milk-drunk baby is a happy baby. I would recommend a nice big feed before you leave, but don’t worry if that doesn’t happen, you are more than welcome to feed or top them up when you arrive at the studio to make sure they have happy bellies in time for their photoshoot.
- I have a wardrobe for mums and babies. If you would like to use the clothing, please let me know sizing beforehand so I can get the outfits ready for you. I also have backup white T-shirts for dads if needed.
- I have contacts for local hairdressers and MUA’s if you wish to pamper yourself before your photoshoot, please ask for more details.
- If you have other children attending, tell them you’re going to Kylie’s house and you’re going to have loads of fun.
What happens at my photoshoot?
- On arrival, I will never make you dive straight into photos. I'd like you to make yourself feel at home whilst I pop the kettle on and we can get to know each other a little and settle any children present into the environment before pointing a camera in their face. I like to create a calm, relaxing setting for everybody.
- Having your photos taken can be scary, I know. But these will be memories that you and your children will cherish for years to come.
- One thing I kindly ask is for you to take off your shoes, little ones spend much of their time on the floor of my studio, so I like to keep it as clean as possible. I also find that barefoot photos make you feel more at home and relaxed.
- I will keep the studio nice and warm for your baby, however, this means that we all get a little hot! So I would recommend wearing something cool.
- I will never rush a session; I always leave plenty of time in between photo shoots. It is completely normal for your children/ newborns to take their time to settle in, so please don’t ever feel rushed.
- If you have an older child with you, I highly recommend doing all of the family photos first so they don’t get too bored!
- I love to capture the most natural and authentic moments between you and your loved ones. A lot of the time, I let the little ones run the show as they always know how to make you giggle and remove any awkwardness, which leads to the most genuine photographs.
- I never do any unsafe posing with newborns. I like to photograph them as they are, all of those beautiful details, tiny toes, windy smiles and those cute little noses.
- Newborn photoshoots typically last between 1-3 hours, this is very dependent on your baby and if there are any other children or pets involved. I always allow time for feeds, cuddles, etc.

My turnaround time for a newborn photoshoot is 4 weeks. Newborn photoshoots are the most time-consuming photoshoots to edit. If you have any special requests like smoothing baby acne, please let me know asap.
-
This is no problem at all, newborn shoots are flexible :) I just ask that you let me know if they come early as I want to make sure I get you a new date that suits you within the time frame.

No problem at all, I always allow plenty of time, and I’ve never come away from a photoshoot with nothing.

You might not feel your best so soon after having your baby. But I promise you that your children will always thank you for getting in the photos. I truly believe that photos gain more value over time. Do it for them :)
